Modular Under-Shelf Storage Rail System
The ultimate custom storage solution for IKEA Trofast Bins.
Stop letting the space under your shelves go to waste. Our precision-engineered rail system allows you to slide IKEA Trofast bins (plastic or mesh) under any flat surface—perfect for desks, craft rooms, workshops, or pantry organization.
📏 Ordering Guide: How many do I need?
To maximize space, use Single Rails for the outer ends and Double Rails as "shared" supports between two bins.
🔧 Step-by-Step Installation Guide
Phase 1: Preparation & Marking
- Dry Fit: Slide a rail onto each side of your IKEA Trofast bin. Note that the bin should slide smoothly but without excessive side-to-side play.
- Positioning: Hold the bin (with rails attached) against the underside of your shelf. Use a spirit level to ensure the bin will sit flush with the shelf edge.
- Trace: Use a sharp pencil to trace the outer edge of the rails and mark the center of each screw hole directly onto the shelf.
Phase 2: Mounting
Choose your method based on your surface type:
- Use a drill bit slightly smaller than your screws to create pilot holes. Do not drill deeper than 3/4 the thickness of your shelf.
- Mount the first "Single" rail. Then, using a bin as a spacer, align the second rail (Single or Double) and screw it into place.
- Do not over-tighten; snug is enough to keep the rail secure without cracking the plastic.
- Degrease: Clean the shelf and the top of the rails with Isopropyl Alcohol. Adhesive will fail if there is any dust or oil.
- Apply tape to the rail, peel the backing, and press firmly against your pencil marks.
- IMPORTANT: Allow the adhesive to cure for 24 hours before adding any weight.
- If using mesh metal bins, leave an extra 1-2mm of "breathing room" between rails, as metal bins can vary slightly in width.
- For long-term durability in workshops, we recommend using a drop of wood glue along the top of the rail in addition to screws.
Specifications: High-density 3D-printed polymer. Integrated countersunk screw holes. Compatible with all IKEA Trofast series bins.
Note: Listing is for rails only. Bins, screws, and tape are not included. Minor layer lines are a natural part of the 3D printing process and do not affect strength.
